Post Tour Come Down
Hello!
So sorry for our absence, I (Cathy) am sure you know we were away on tour with Lord Huron (swoon). I’m impressed if you didn’t know because we harped on about it long enough. While we find ourselves with endless time on tour, we also find ourselves with none at all. I realise that is a massive contradiction, but it’s real! And hence the lack of SubStack. Forgive us?
Par example, we all brought books on tour and I know for a FACT that no one read more than two pages. Our intentions are good but they rarely come to fruition. I guess we can blame it on the sheer amount of fun we have? Or the tiredness from all of the fun? Or being in close proximity to people all of the time that results in us craving sweet, unstimulated, quiet time. I know that’s it for me. Tour is a whirlwind, a rollercoaster, a bizarre old time.
Thankfully - we have been doing this for *drum roll* 9 years now, so we slot into each others vibes pretty easily. We know when to go for the risky slag of one another or when to put it in our pockets for later. Well ..most of the time. But we are a well oiled machine at this stage and share something quite unique that is really hard to compare to other relationships. A dysfunctional but functional family.
All of that is to say that tour was DIVINE. Lord Huron and their entire crew are absolute sweethearts. For the size of their crew, that is no mean feat - every single one of them was an absolute dreamboat to work with. They had a ‘cuddle’ spot right before they went on stage. They graciously thanked their crew and one another every night. They were so supportive to the PQ crew, watching us most nights and helping when crazy technical troubles might happen on stage. I would go as far as to say that… I think we might be friends? At least we hope so.
The music industry is HARD and we have been feeling it. We have been grafting for years with lots of success and lots of disappointment. Lord Huron share a similar story in that they’ve been hard grafting for many years and now they are selling out 5,000. capacity venues all over Europe and recently played Madison Square Gardens! To say they have inspired us is an understatement. New bucket list item unlocked.
So our energy is BACK BITCH and Operation World Domination is GO. While the girls dealt with the post tour blues in Dublin, I flew straight to Spain and well… how can you experience the blues in Spain? I read TWO books that I meant to read on tour:
1: Country Girls - Edna O’ Brien (already onto the next book Lonely Girls - amazing 100/10)
2: Sunburn - Chloe Michelle Howarth (thanks for the lend Sarah! also amazing and SUPER relatable.)
We also went Stand Up Paddle Boarding, ate paella, drank wine. Now I sit here in my sitting room writing to you. Blues have still not set in because we are in full swing prep for our In Waiting National Concert Hall celebration on October 21st . There are some tickets left but I think they are starting to get thin on the ground so if you would like to celebrate this record with us on the evening - now would be a great time to get tickets.
Anything else gals?
Oh yes! We released a new song which we’ve been playing live and really enjoying all your feedback. You can stream it, buy it, or even watch a little video we filmed on tour (which nobody else has seen yet - see, we do give you substackers priority!)
ALL OUR LOVE.
X

I'm here for the World Domination.
Hell yeah!
