It really has been awhile and for that I come begging for your forgiveness. You can’t stay mad at us, surely?
It’s Cathy-I’ve just landed back in Wexford to find the delightful Love Yourself Tshirt in my letterbox. Obsessed with this design. Here’s a snap of myself and Billy having a walking disagreement on the Quays. Just a day in the life of...
We haven’t been slacking I assure you. We have been working very hard on demoing new songs! Our typical day in our studio looks like us arriving at 10.30 and playing through til about 4pm. We obviously stop to make tea and eat and mess around a bit, take an occasional meeting. But mostly we just play for HOURS and then if that’s not enough- I will obsessively listen to what we’ve been recording all day on the drive home, thinking of guitar lines in the aisle of Tesco and have to voice note them. It is all a bit mad really isn’t it? Do any of you guys do this or have any projects you spend copious [unhealthy] amounts of time on?
So what have we been up to?….
We have been playing some seriously fun shows - We played When Next We Meet in Tipperary a couple of weeks ago. That is a hot tip if you’re looking for a boutique festival for next year. Skinner and Morgana played too and we just all had a ball. Being treated that well at a festival is really a game changer for bands and not always the case so we appreciated this festival so much.
Then we were flown to the city of LOVE for a one off show in the incredible Centre Culturel Irlandais for Fête de la musique. We had the best time despite it being 35 degrees and Sarah and Pamela losing their guitars on their flight home (they have since been recovered). We also had my gorgeous Parisian friend Laure be our local tour guide so we had the best time ever.
(If I write in brackets I feel like I can’t get in trouble and I’m kind of whispering only to you so I can tell you this - Sarah also lost her bag on the way to the airport in Dublin before the flight out. Like it didn’t even get to the airport. It too has been recovered thankfully. Not sure we are allowed to laugh yet? Here’s a picture of her just after getting through security and getting essentials in Boots. So vulnerable. So funny.)
We are also turbo excited for Hibernacle I think we might even stay all night and party with you if you’re a lucky ticket holder - we have heard very good things about this one!
And Selling Out…
PRIDE IS PROTEST! So why are Pillow Queens playing an intimate show for Just Eat with SOAK (swoon) on Pride? Well because Just Eat are one of the very few corporations who are sticking to their guns in a world where other corporations are not. They are donating all profits and a hefty €20,000 to Outhouse. That’s just cool right? The event did sell out very quickly BUT I have it on good authority that Just Eat are raffling some tickets!
So there you have it - that is all the PQ news I can give you at the moment..

Fun and cultural things I, Cathy, have been doing…
We went to see Wolf Alice in Kilkenny - my goodness, maybe one of my favourite live shows? We also saw LANKUM and Fontaines DC in the Guinness Store house (Thanks Guinness xx).
It was my birthday last week so Gráinne brought me to London to see Waxahatchee (swoon) and Hadestown on the West End.
While we were in London we went to Gay’s the Word bookshop which was a place I’ve wanted to visit for quite awhile. So lovely being surrounded by queer texts.
I knew we were close when we got to this lovely crossing..
We also went to Beyond the Pale for our friend Ronan’s birthday. What a festival.
AND LASTLY…
10/10- Definitely recommend. We even went to see Shon Faye’s talk at the Dublin Lit festival. I even got my book signed and fangirled - really great read.
I’m only half way on this one but really enjoying it. Purchased in Gay’s the Word - they have a great online shop too!
Listening today to The Wytches who just announced a UK and EU tour. I would definitely be going to if you live on the continent or in the UK. I might even travel I love these guys so much. They also have lovely merch if you are looking for some neat new threads.
I must go and catch up on TWO Irish classes that I’ve missed and learn some music for my cousins wedding. Hope she’s not reading this.
Over and out,
Bisous,
Cathy x
